All course prices at Carabao Diving include: all required diving equipment (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins, tank), SSI digital training materials, boat trips to open water dive sites, and your SSI certification registration fee. Equipment Rental: What If You Need to Rent Separately?
For certified divers doing fun dives, equipment is typically included in the fun dive price (as at Carabao). If you ever need to rent equipment separately — for example, if you bring your own regulator and just need a tank and BCD — typical rental rates in Koh Tao are as follows:

The course fee covers diving. Here's what else to budget for during your time on the island:
- Accommodation: Budget guesthouses from 400–700 THB/night. Mid-range 800–1,500 THB/night. Carabao offers OW + 3-night accommodation packages from 9,900 THB (dorm) to 10,900 THB (private room)
- Meals: Excellent Thai food is available island-wide for 80–150 THB per dish. Budget 300–600 THB/day for food if eating locally
- Ferry from the mainland: Chumphon (nearest train station) to Koh Tao by night ferry is approximately 200–300 THB. Surat Thani combined bus+ferry packages run 400–600 THB
- Taxi to pier: If you're not staying on Sairee, taxis to the pier cost 100–200 THB each way. Staying at Carabao or nearby eliminates this completely
- Reef-safe sunscreen: Essential and available on the island for 150–300 THB (bring your own from home for better selection)

The price is the same whether you book ahead or walk in. But during peak season (December–March, July–August), our courses fill weeks in advance. Showing up and hoping for a spot the next morning is a real risk in high season. We recommend booking at least a week ahead during busy periods — two to four weeks if you have inflexible travel dates.
